Spherical stainless steel grit

Spherical stainless steel shot is a metallic abrasive obtained from the melting of selected stainless steel. During the production process, the molten metal is atomized and cooled in a controlled manner, forming particles that are predominantly spherical in shape and have a compact structure.

Subsequently, the material undergoes particle size selection processes and heat treatments that allow for constant mechanical characteristics and high wear resistance. This process guarantees a uniformly high-quality abrasive, capable of maintaining stable performance even after numerous usage cycles.

The rounded shape of the particles allows for a gentler and more regular impact action compared to angular abrasives, making it particularly suitable for cleaning operations, surface finishing, and treatment of metal components without creating overly aggressive surface profiles.

Thanks to its corrosion resistance and the ability to be recovered and reused multiple times in recirculating shot blasting systems, stainless steel spherical shot represents an efficient and long-lasting solution for many industrial processes, while ensuring high standards of cleanliness and finish quality.

Types of spherical stainless steel shot

  • Spherical Cr Standard stainless steel has a more generic composition and microstructure, with variable hardness and resistance and a greater tendency to fragment during use.
  • Spherical NiCr is an austenitic stainless steel with a high chromium and nickel content, with high hardness, resilience, and corrosion resistance.

Advantages

  • In cleaning and finishing stainless steels, to remove processing residues and improve the surface appearance of components.
  • In the mechanical industry, to treat metal parts and obtain uniform surfaces before further processing.
  • In the treatment of non-ferrous metals, such as aluminum and light alloys, where a less aggressive abrasive action is required.
  • In shot peening processes, used to increase the fatigue resistance of metal components.
  • In industrial sectors such as food, pharmaceutical, and chemical, where it is essential to avoid contamination from ferrous materials.
