Corundum

Corundum is a natural or synthetic abrasive based on aluminum oxide (Al₂O₃), characterized by a very high hardness, second only to diamond and some silicon oxides. Its compact and resistant crystalline structure makes it extremely effective for removing oxidation, paint, residues, and surface layers from hard materials without losing shape or performance during use.

Available in different grain sizes and hardness levels, corundum can be used in its natural, more irregular form, or synthetic, with uniform and controlled particles for precision industrial applications. Thanks to its chemical stability and ability to maintain effectiveness even after multiple cycles of use, it represents a versatile and reliable abrasive for numerous sectors.

It is particularly suitable for sandblasting, shot blasting, production of abrasive wheels, working on hard metals, glass, ceramics, and natural stones, ensuring high and consistent quality finishes.

Types of corundum

Reddish-brown corundum is a variety of aluminum oxide characterized by a slight presence of iron oxides, which gives the particle its typical reddish color and a slightly higher hardness. Thanks to its wear resistance and particle robustness, it is suitable for general industrial applications such as sandblasting, shot blasting, and production of abrasive wheels, where intense and consistent abrasive action is required.
White corundum is a purer variety free of impurities, with high hardness and uniform particles. This characteristic makes it particularly suitable for precision applications and delicate surfaces, where it is important to achieve a uniform finish without altering the treated material. It is used in the processing of non-ferrous metals, glass, ceramics, and natural stones, ensuring high-quality results without contamination.
